Tempting though it might be to spend your whole break here soaking it all in, there’s a huge choice of things to do to suit all ages and tastes; The National Tramway Museum at Crich, The Derwent Valley World Heritage Site between Cromford and Belper, Matlock.
Matlock Bath is a well-known resort on the River Derwent; visit popular Heights of Abraham cable cars, enjoy fish and chips, and numerous entertainments throughout the year.
The Matlock Bath illuminations and firework displays are especially popular in autumn bringing in the crowds and lighting up the sky. Gulliver’s Kingdom is great fun with the children, remember your waterproofs for the log ride!
Just a little further afield is the lovely town of Bakewell and the stunning Chatsworth Estate which offers many events throughout the year. Enjoy a walk along the river or visit the house and gardens and farmyard.
